Of course since 11 is coming out soon, if I don't find a solution before then I will just perform a clean install. The time now is 19:58. © 2015 SUSE, All Rights Reserved. Definitely wanted to post this feedback as googling even part of: "xsane: relocation error: /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_object_compat_control" ..brought up only FOUR pages, this one being one of them. My conclusion on this issue is, /opt/dell/srvadmin/lib64/libdnet.so.1 is not a useful version of libdnet because it does not expose the necessary APIs like intf_open. (from 11.4 x86_64 "Celadon" at Telcontar) I just disabled all the 11.4 repositories and have done the zypper dup as described. That being said this system is horrifically old and almost certainly wildly insecure and really should be put down. –Etan Reisner Jul 8 '15 at 19:52 add a comment| 1 Answer

I thought this odd, since downloading packages in YaST can only be used by root. but when i run syslog-ng on beagle board i get the following error "syslog-ng: symbol lookup error: /lib/libsyslog-ng-3.3.11.so: undefined symbol: g_mutex_lock". I get the exact same error and it points to the exact same place.

It would involve the steps you took to get there, such as added the following repos to YaST (listing the repos), and performed the upgrade (describing how you upgraded). have a peek here Having a problem logging in?
Running xsane at the terminal gave me the same symbol error described in this forum. It's part of the glib package, but for some reason removing the glib package doesn't get rid of it (maybe it's claimed by some other package too?). if so, which (precisely and exactly) and what is the host OS? It could be your glib version is too old, or it is somehow missing from the linker line.

However, when doing > that there were too many unresolved dependencies. You need to either get a good libdnet from your vendor (seems to be Dell?) or use the libdnet available from Red Hat.
