I also deleted HKLM\System\Setup - "Upgrade" because I upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 8 Pro I changed HKLM\System\Setup\Status\SysprepStatus - GeneralizeationState to 7 instead of 3. It works without the /generalize switch. I managed to prepare my image for sysprep using the steps in the link. Sysprp Sppnp Error 0x3 These values are DEPRECATED for Windows 7.You can choose inside OOBE section the values you need!

If you set PersistAllDeviceInstalls to true in an answer file, Sysprep will not remove the detected device drivers.
